Bio
Architect/
Designer

My name is Carlos T. Acosta Pérez. I am a Puerto Rican architect and artist with an M.Arch from Pratt Institute and a bachelor's in environmental design from the University of Puerto Rico. My work showcases my ability to create innovative and resilient designs, leveraging skills in 3D modeling, drawing, rendering, and animation. Besides my architectural practice, I pursue independent artistic projects, especially in 3D modeling, visualization, drawing, and mixed media. My interests cover a wide range of topics within our field, but I am especially focused on how identity, culture, sci-fi, and retrofitting influence architecture. I am fascinated by how these elements can be expressed physically in construction, going beyond decoration while respecting their context

Terra Nova Skyscraper

Synopsis:

The skyscraper typology has made it possible to duplicate and compress the presence of population in a city while having a small percentage of sprawling but in the process has lost and obligated their inhabitants to live a certain way, limiting diverse lifestyles to mass produce units throughout the building. What if we part from the creation of a diverse unit that answers to the diversity of the inhabitants as it goes upwards? What if instead of developing a building all throughout in one go it is developed by phases as the inhabitant decides to come? Thus the Terra Nova Skyscrapers. A building made to change and work for its user and in the process be able to adapt for the times and usage.
