Synopsis:
Inspired by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s reef initiative, where
decommissioned train cars are stripped of hazardous materials and repurposed as artificial reefs
to support marine life, we see an opportunity to rethink reuse on land. Instead of discarding
these structures, we could adapt them to provide shelter for a portion of the population in urgent
need of housing, particularly those who already rely on these train cars as a place of refuge.
