Bio
Architect/
Designer

My name is Carlos T. Acosta Pérez. I am a Puerto Rican architect and artist with an M.Arch from Pratt Institute and a bachelor's in environmental design from the University of Puerto Rico. My work showcases my ability to create innovative and resilient designs, leveraging skills in 3D modeling, drawing, rendering, and animation. Besides my architectural practice, I pursue independent artistic projects, especially in 3D modeling, visualization, drawing, and mixed media. My interests cover a wide range of topics within our field, but I am especially focused on how identity, culture, sci-fi, and retrofitting influence architecture. I am fascinated by how these elements can be expressed physically in construction, going beyond decoration while respecting their context

Baluarte Boricua: A Totem

Synopsis:

In homage to the words of Pedro Albizu Campos, “Wherever there is a Puerto Rican with their own land, there will be a bulwark of resistance against the invasion," the Baluarte Borica emerges. This structure represents a hybrid of totem, living space, and lighthouse, composed of significant Puerto Rican symbols. It stands as a testament to the defense of our identity by demonstrating how the integration of our iconic objects and modes of living evolves over time while still preserving the Puerto Rican consciousness embodied within the architectural envelope.
